What kind of personal property can I sell at an online auction?
At the KC Auction and Appraisal Company we generally sell antiques, artwork, jewelry, coins, historically important items, and other items of interest.

How do I consign items for auction?
The first step is to contact us with a brief description of what you want to sell. You can email that information to info@kcauctioncompany.com or you can call us at 816-283-3633.

What are the fees and commissions associated with selling at an online auction?
We charge a commission to the seller. The commission is based on the high bid of item/items that you want to sell.

Our commission covers photography, catalog work, marketing, advertising, logistics, etc.

If a moving company is needed to move your items to our facility, there maybe a charge for that as well.

We also charge a buyer’s premium to our bidders. This is a service charge in addition to their high bid.

How do I determine the value of my items?
We will talk about what similar items have sold for historically and what you can expect from your items at auction.

How long does it typically take for my items to sell at auction?
Generally, we sell your items within 3 months.

How will my items be marketed to potential buyers?
We have a network of buyers in our database that all auctions are marketed to. We use email, text, and phone calls to reach those people.

We use several online auction calendars to promote every auction.

We also use the latest social media marketing tools to expand our reach to groups of people looking for what it is that we might be selling for you.

How will I be paid after my items sell?
We send a check within 30 business days.

What happens if my item doesn’t sell at auction?
On the rare instances that something doesn’t sell we will talk with you about options. Generally, we will offer the item again at an upcoming auction.

Will I be responsible for shipping my items to buyers?
No. We work with a local UPS franchise for shipping. This is the responsibility of the buyers.

Do I need an appraisal?
First of all, what is the appraisal for? If you’re just curious or interested in selling or consigning the item, usually a verbal evaluation is all you need. But if you need to know an item’s value for insurance purposes or the division of an estate (for example), then you probably need a written appraisal.

Do you buy items or estates?
We do! Please contact us for more information and to schedule an appointment.

What sort of items are you looking for?
The best-selling items are, naturally, items that are desirable and valuable. We are always interested in jewelry, coins, sterling silver, fine art, antique furniture, oriental rugs. Generally speaking, if items were expensive when they were new, then there’s usually a strong second market for them.

Where are your auctions held?
All of our auctions are online.

Where are auction items located?
Items may be at our office, your location, bank vaults, or other facilities as needed.
