About The Auction

John Coultis founded John Coultis Design in 1949 and the firm is still going strong today. John worked in the business for more than 60 years and during that time he collected outstanding antique furniture, mid-century modern furniture, architectural items, and all kinds of related items. We are honored to bring this collection to the market. John attended Missouri Military Academy and served our country before being accepted into the Parsons School of Design in New York. After graduating from Parsons he decided to come back to Wichita for a year. That year turned into 60, and during that time John worked on commercial, corporate and residential projects. Some of his more interesting projects were several private jets and multiple US Embassies around the globe including embassies in Italy, Germany, Ireland and Morocco.

Some of the highlights of the auction include more than 30 oil paintings (many by listed artists).

There are more than 75 architectural and garden antique lots.

The antique furniture is extremely diverse including a pair of Italian Grotto tete-a-tete, English and French Oak including Gothic pieces and cabinets with carved figures and busts, Italian carved and gilded tables, Baker furniture, a French Art Nouveau Vitrine, Biedermeier, Mission Oak and lots of chairs. A LOT OF CHAIRS!

Modern design lots include furniture by Finn Juhl, George Nelson, Edward Wormley, Charles Eames, Erwine and Estelle Laverne, Sergio Rodrigues, Edward Fields and others.

The Open House for this auction is Thursday, September 22nd from 10am to 6:30pm central time at 17815 E. Foster Rd, Suite 112, Liberty, MO 64068. The facility is called Rush Creek Properties.
